Introducing Charlie!

I'm Charlie Knoles, and I'm thrilled to step into the role of General Manager at Mindful Meditation Australia.

My Journey to Mindful Meditation Australia

For the last 15 years I’ve been teaching meditation to people from all walks of life. I’ve learned that no matter whether someone is sitting in a luxury mansion or a prison cell, we’re all united in our need to find peace within ourselves.

My Early Beginnings in Meditation

My meditation journey began when I was just four years old. My mother and father are both meditation teachers so my siblings and I grew up practicing meditation, yoga, and breathing techniques for as long as I can remember. These early lessons in Meditation laid the foundation for my lifelong commitment to helping people to find inner peace through mindful practices.

A Diverse Educational Path and Passion for Teaching

I have always been driven by a thirst for knowledge and exploration. My academic journey took me through the Australian Institute of Music and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, reflecting my love for music and the arts. Further pursuing my diverse interests, I earned a degree in Biology from Maharishi International University. Here, I was instrumental in developing their now-popular multidisciplinary degree in Sustainable Living, marrying my interests in environmental sustainability and holistic living.

Making a Global Impact through Meditation

In 2008, at the height of the global financial crisis, I decided to quit my job and devote my time to teaching meditation. I had many people tell me that I was taking a silly risk but my intuition was guiding me well. It turned out to be the best decision of my life as I rediscovered my love for meditation and had the opportunity to help thousands of people transform their lives.

My students range from teachers and healthcare professionals to top-tier actors and corporate leaders. I’m also passionate about reaching people who would not normally have access to mindfulness or meditation as tools for recovery. This has led me to service-work teaching meditation to combat veterans, recovering addicts, and people recently released from prison.

Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most innovative organizations in wellness, including being on the founding teams of The Path, and One Giant Mind and directing meditation programs for MindBodyGreen and Wanderlust Studio.

My wife and I cofounded The Veda Center in 2010 and together we have taught over 10,000 people to meditate and trained hundreds of meditation teachers worldwide. Our teachers span the globe from wellness hubs like Los Angeles and Sydney to some of the most remote corners of the globe such as Haiti, Kazakhstan, and Mauritius.

Looking Forward with Mindful Meditation Australia

Joining Mindful Meditation Australia marks a significant milestone in my journey. I am eager to bring my experiences and insights to our community.

I’m looking forward to building on the excellent education programs that were developed by my predecessors and expanding into new areas that we have yet to explore such as corporate meditation programs, online learning, retreats and much more!

I am grateful to the all the people who have built Mindful Meditation Australia into the wonderful organization we see today. I’m also tremendously optimistic about our future as we find more ways to help people be mindful and find inner peace.
