Holding a formal or informal launch of your school’s approach to mindfulness at a special assembly
The launch communicates to the whole-school community what you are doing and why and allows an opportunity for discussion and practice of mindfulness
The launch can be as small or as large as you like. You could theme an entire assembly around mindfulness, starting with a short meditation, having student performances or speeches about mindfulness and integrating mindfulness into all aspects of the assembly. Some schools then host an after-assembly morning tea for parents to ask further information about the school’s approach and follow this up with information in the newsletter so all members of the school community hear about the new approach.
Establishing a regular ‘corner’ in the school newsletter to communicate regularly with parents about mindfulness. This serves as a good initial communication tool as well as long term reinforcement of the school’s approach.
Dedicating regular space in the newsletter to mindfulness ensures it stays top-of-mind across the whole school community.
Dedicate a small corner in the school’s newsletter or other parent communication portal that is named the Meditation Corner. Place regular news, updates, photos, tips and tricks for parents or success stories in this corner.
